Most homes in Makawao are about a 25-35 minute drive to the beach. The Kahului airport is about a 20 minute drive from Makawao. Makawao has great hiking and off-road biking trails. It is a more rural part of UpCountry, with many homes having larger lots. It's a great town that even has its own rodeo, and several polo fields as well. There is even a place to play paint ball games! Many homes in Makawao have excellent ocean views too. In the summer it is usually about 5-10 degrees cooler than see level.
