A drive to the top of Puulima Road is to discover a bit of unexpected seclusion. Walking in the front door of this home greets me with a sense of peace. I found myself immediately inspired by the finishes, hardwoods, high ceilings, soft color palette... the essentials of a home that is a modern-day version of a Hawaiian plantation home, with all of the care associated with that. I was escorted about by the homeowners who showed me the enchanting things that make this home so special to them. I asked them what they loved about it and one of my favorite responses was showering under the stars in the outdoor shower with the fragrant lavender orchids that are attached to the lava rock wall. The chef’s kitchen is perfect for making elaborate meals while gazing at the ocean, and the island range allows the chef to remain engaged with guests. The oversized office can be shuttered from the rest of the home for privacy and distance work. My favorite part of the home is the screened-in lanai with its valley and ocean views and cool breezes. I thought that I could live in that one space but there is so much more to enjoy.
